Document Summary
Where matters: geo + graphy (the study of spatial variation) Spatial variation (how, where, and why places differ: natural phenomena (ran and snow, human creation (culture or music, where things happen makes a difference in this world. Interactions between places: many geographers travel around the world to do our research, others do research closer to home, how do people get to know another part of the world, tourism, family, live there, reading, research. In class: film, we are constantly bombarded with pictures and stories about other places (learn to asses those images and ideas. Regions- combination of physical features, human features, and the interaction between the two: there is a blurring between the borders of regions. But we need to use the lines to study even though we know in real life are fuzzy: on a map region lines look stable. No region is homogonous (not the same across the region). The borders between regions may change over time.
