Hm was an amnesiac who sufered bilateral damage to his temporal lobe during a surgery by. Ep was a paient who had late onset viral encephaliis that caused massive damage to his brain. This is the iniial diference between hm and ep, as hm was much younger when his amnesia took hold. Ep was older and had his amnesia from natural causes. Hm"s amnesia was due to medical intervenion, allowing a more controlled lesion to be done on his brain. Hm was also on heavy medicaion for much of his life due to his epilepsy.
