Healthcare reform (with obamacare) is an example of how all three branches of the government have interacted. Passed in 2010: after it was passed, lawsuits were fired challenging the aca"s constitutionality. Intermediate court of appeals/circuit courts were mixed - some found it constitutional and some found it not constitutional in some aspects of the law: original challenge: federal government can only regulate things that are an interstate commerce. Supreme court agreed - freedom of religion and separation of church & state. Struck down part of aca that requires you to provide contraception for employees: aca got around that by saying you don"t need to provide it but you need to provide funds so the employee can get it elsewhere. 2016: republican administration and legislature takes over (trump) - ran on the promise of repealing.
