We always rehearse the first few, but gets harder as we go to the middle of list ( same time&more items) Hypothesis is supported: says recency should not be affected by this manipulation bc due to stm recall, although not reliable bc not controlled lab but classroom setting: recency effect: 1)prevent rehearsal/reduce recall from stm(let info expire by switching from free serial recall) Strategy of recalling last items doesn"t work bc need to start with first items for serial recall, so cannot rehearse(incompatible behaviors) Recency effect was infact reduced compared to free recall: delay recall for minute from the end of the list: allow time for memory to leave stm.
