Importance of communication: every career requires competent communication and for many careers, communication is. Vital: organizations expect employees to be competent communicators, effective, appropriate, the use of verbal and nonverbal symbols to stimulate meaning in the minds of others. Meanings can change over time: communication is , unavoidable: everything we do and say (or not do and not say) communicates something. This means that even when we don"t intend to send a message to someone, it is possible for them to take meaning from it: strategic: we communicate to achieve goals. We also communicate to entertain, inform, or persuade. We communicate to create some type of identity for ourselves; establish, build, maintain or dissolve relationships, or to complete some task. And we choose certain words or we carry ourselves in certain ways to accomplish our goals. Often times we do these things subconsciously or automatically even.
