That our threat to the gods prompted zeus to cut us in half. We have wandered the earth looking for our other half in order to rejoin with it and become whole. Agathon believed that love is young, beautiful, sensitive, and wise. Agathon also believed that love gives us virtue. Socrates believed that agathon was discussing the object of love but not love itself. Socrates tells everyone what diotima told him.
