Power-the ability for a someone to get their way when faced with opposition. Income- money received by a person at one time of the goal. Power is disproportionate among the power elite. Causes information flow and isolation among the power elite. Prestige- status or reputation achieved through success, influence, status or wealth. When one dimension of social stratification is higher than other dimensions. Example: school teachers have a lot of respect but earn very little money. Higher classes have better access to better health care. Those in lower classes are at an increased risk for mental illness. Higher classes are more likely to put an emphasis on traditional family.
