Document Summary

This is a desire for a strong and stable relationship. Positive relationships help reduce stress and is linked to a good physical health. The interdependence model says our relationship outcomes is based on the relationships balance between rewards and cost. Comparison level: what you think you deserve. Satisisfaction within a relationship comes from the outcomes minus the comparison level. If the outcomes exceed the comparison level then you will be satisfied. Ex: if your ex never opened the door for you then this is your expectation (comparison level) for person you date after so if your new boyfriend opens doors for you (the outcome) then you will be satisfied. This is the outcome minus the comparative level for alternatives. If the outcome exceeds the comparison level for alternatives, then you will be more dependent in the relationship also being more stable.
