Peak experiences: intrinsic motivation motivation from within. Rewards increase performance in absence of intrinsic motivation. Social reinforcers (e. g. , praise) can increase instrictic motivation. Rewards for effort rather than ability can increase intrinsic motivation. Three psychological needs: competence, autonomy, relatedness, extrinsic motivation motivation from external reinforcers or rewards. Esteem: self-esteem, confidence, achievement, respect of others, respect by others.
