In order to help you structure and memorize the essentials of the cognitive approach we discussed yesterday (thursday and monday), here"s a structured list of key-questions/issues: Two-way interaction subject - world: bottom-up and top-down (explain) Schemata and scripts (what are they?) help this two-way process: e. g. ignore redundant signs, complete incomplete ones, correct false ones. Previous experiences archived in memory - create expectations - condition future experience (e. g. busy airport - looking for check-in desk), selective attention narrow down (searchlight-like) what we perceive (the gorilla-experiment). We did not talk yet about how to apply this to media. We will later, but it does not hurt you to do the exercise already now yourselves.
