What roles to chemicals play in gender bending?
When I first started learning about gender bending, I thought it something that some
people are meant to be, but I came to an astonishing realization there might be some horrifying
causes of gender bending. Many of our society in the past and still today deny gender bending
not knowing that in many cases they are the cause of it. Many of don’t know why there is a
decline in the male population in several places or why is there a decrease in their sperm count
and level of Testone?
Growing body of the male in both human and animals shows evidence that sometime
is wrong with their body but what is the problem? “Scientist now believes that certain manmade
chemicals are to blame” (The Disappearing Male (documentary)). Almost 70 years ago, before
the industrial era begin synthesis chemicals were really not seen. However since the beginning of
1940 scientists started creating man-made compounds and they ended up making “more than
ninety thousand compounds and the majority of them have never been tested on humans” (The
Disappearing Male (documentary)). Most of these chemicals come from the fossil fuel,
Petroleum. Today these chemicals are everywhere such as toys, soap, clothes, rugs and etc.

These chemicals are affecting us in many ways but many of these chemical's main targets are
male. Male ranging from age 0 to 5 are most vulnerable to these chemical.
Today many of these chemicals are known as gender-bending chemicals. In short, are
called “gender benders’. Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) is one of the biggest cause of
gendering bending. They are hormone-disrupting chemicals in domestic products ranging from
contraceptive drugs to liquid detergents. Chemical like Bisphenol A are used to make plastic
hard and unbreakable and they can also be found in baby bottles. Chemicals like phthalates make
plastics soft and can be found in rubber toys. Exposure to these chemicals are affecting male in
great quantity. “men are less fertile than their fathers and produce only a third as much,
proportionately, as hamsters.” (Lean, 1). Also due to these chemicals young boy are acting more
like a female. They are playing with tea sets and dressing up in females clothes. Many of these
chemicals imitate the female sex hormone estrogen. Phthalates, one of the main anti-androgenic
chemicals, has been blamed for blocking the action of testosterone in the womb. Recent studies
show that babies who have exposed to an unexpected amount female hormones while still in the
womb can undergo changes of their brain structure which sometimes even lead to permanent
changes in their sexual orientation. In a research study done by Scientists in New York at the
University of Rochester,” discovered that boys born to women exposed to phthalates had smaller
penises and other feminisation of the genitals.”(Lean, 1).
These Endocrine-disrupting chemicals are not the only cause of gender bending in
human but also the cause of gender bending in many species. Chemicals from fertilizer, pesticide
and from many industries have leaked into several rivers. In some rivers, fishes are now growing
