In this chapter, the text tries to show students different approaches to studying biology. Biology is a very large area of science and it encompasses many different aspects and levels of study. Fig. (cid:1005). (cid:1007) poi(cid:374)ts out se(cid:448)e(cid:374) properties of life. Keep in mind that there are areas of study for each of these levels and within these levels as well. In bsc1010, we focus on biology at the cellular level, so we are learning about levels 8-10. And evolution starts with changes that occur in the dna, a chemical molecule in the cell that is passed on from one generation to the next in reproduction. It provides a scheme to put similar organisms into to categories. Remember that as more information about organisms is discovered, this classification scheme may change. 1. 15 for the current classification scheme for the domains and kingdoms. This was evident to darwin on his trip around the world, that similar organisms have differences among them.
