Document Summary

Arguments cannot be true or false, only premises can be true or false. If the premises are true the conclusion must be true. Argument is sound if the argument is valid and all the premises are true. Law and order is relevant to injustice because people in inner city communities and law and order will reduce this injustice. The problem with law and order policy is that it is often contradictory. Law and order style arguments say we have to have this policy in order to implement/prevent law and order. You have to implement law and order to prevent law and order is a contradiction. Thought experiment is when you propose a theory and propose counter examples. Like utilitarianism is the belief that we should always do what maximizes happiness. Plato, please read this since we never did. He disproves miscalculation is not the reason, ignorance is not the reason etc. so it must be irrationality.
