Hip-hop is a combination of many different genres. Hip-hop is so great because anybody from anywhere can be the next big hip-hop star. However, if you really want to understand the true origins of hip-hop, you have to visit the bronx. Break beats are when you scratch the record until the beat breaks. Break dancing originated when djs played only the breaks and people began to dance to them. However, most break dancers were also drug dealers. Graffiti at its origin was a way for rappers to promote themselves. Graffiti was also used to express important messages and make statements. Furthermore, graffiti was a portrayal of daily life in the projects.
