Document Summary

One of the most objective events to judge. The scoring system evaluates each horse in an objective manner and assigns each run a score. Reining is judged on the ability of a horse to perform a pattern assigned by the judges prior to the start of the class. Patterns can include 6 maneuvers: spins stops rollbacks circles figure 8"s. There are no more than 8 maneuvers in each run, but can have as little as 6. Rules for judging: general: to rein a horse is not only to guide him but to also control his every movement. The best-reined horse should be willingly guided/controlled with little or no resistance. Any movement on his own is considered lack of control by the rider. All deviations from the pattern are considered a lack of/temporary loss of control and is considered a fault that must be penalized. Authority of preforming maneuvers while using controlled speed (raises difficulty level)
