Confucius/confucianism: confucius was a famous thinker and philosopher. Confucianism which focused on the idea of self-creation and building the best self possible (perfecting oneself). There was also great emphasis on relationships and they were seen as sacred. Confucianism includes three bonds: emperor and subject, father and son, and husband and wife. Mandate of heaven: this is the belief that the ruler is essentially chosen by a higher power . If a ruler was overthrown or a natural disaster happened, people would believe that the ruler was not worthy. Scholar-gentry class: this class was the first order of classes the best class. The scholar class consisted of scholars who didn"t have to work and just had to think. It also included the gentry class because landowners had money and also the potential to become scholars because of money and time. Imperial bureaucracy: the qing dynasty was the last chinese imperial bureaucracy.
