Eg. , time warner and the hobbit: time warner (tw) is a large company comprising of several subsidiaries, one of the companies which produced the hobbit was new line cinema (nlc), a subsidiary of tw. When people watch this movie at the theaters, it would profit nlc which in turn would profit time warner: or perhaps they waited until it came out on channels such as hbo. Hbo is a subsidiary of time warner, each time someone subscribes to. Hbo, it would profit tw: if we wait even more, and watch it on free channels such as tbs, time. Warner would profit once again since they own tbs. 1983 - 50 companies owned around 90% of us media.
