Individuals will settle in habitats based on relative fitness payoffs: the number of individuals in each habitats will be proportional to habitat equality: higher quality = more individuals. Lower level of competition: according to the ifd model, all individuals have the same fitness no matter where they settle. Because they are free to move to different habitats that they can get the amount of food resources that they need. In the morning, fewer guppies are in the abundant patch, because they need some time to figure out the relative qualities of each food patch. A territory is an area defended to obtain the exclusive use of the resources it contains, such as food, nesting sites, or potential mates. It takes both time and energy to chase off intruders.
