Economy boomed due to increase in residential construction. Factories began producing both very rich and very poor middle class . Some divided it further into upper lower , lower middle , upper middle or blue collar, white collar, and professionals. Life in the suburbs depended on the automobile: shopping malls, commuting to work, extracurricular activities, Families spent a lot of time together and extended family became remote figures to the family. appliances & tv"s for homes. New consumer products: frozen food, cigarettes, high-fidelity phonographs, cars with automatic transmission & tubeless tires. Supermarkets near suburbs carrying array of products for a well-balanced diet.
