Gods punish by making enkidu sick, he dies. Gilgamesh grieves and searches for eternal life. Looks for utnapishtim, guy who was given eternal life after gods flooded earth: gods decided after flooding that they would never do it again. Untapishtim tests gilgamesh, says if he can stay up for a week he could live forever.
