Groups, rings and fields final exam, take-home portion. As we discussed, the in-class exam is mandatory, but this take-home is optional. If you only do the in-class exam (worth 125 points), your nal exam grade will be the percentage you got out of 125 points. If you choose also to do the take-home (worth 60 points, but counted double), your nal exam grade is out of 125 + 120 = 245 points. The take-home is not bonus , as either way, the highest possible grade is 100%. Even if a question doesn"t explicitly say to prove something, you need to supply a proof that your answer is correct. What you turn in should probably not be your rst attempt, but a polished nal draft. If you get stuck on one part of a multi-part problem, you can still work on the later parts. If you do this, you can assume any results asserted the earlier parts.
