Psychology of women is concerned with the lives and experiences women encounter. Feminist psychology focuses on the theories on women"s psychology. Psychology of gender focuses on the sociological differences that result in gender biases. Sex: the classification of individuals as female or male based on their genetic makeup, anatomy and reproductive functions. Gender: the meanings that societies and individuals give to female and male categories. Similarities approach: beta bias (construct: men and women are basically alike in their intellectual and social behaviour, differences between women and men are produced by socialization, not biology (social forces) Feminism: stereotypes about male and females are reinforced. Liberal: perspective is on the same rights, laws and opportunities for both males and females. Cultural: emphasis on positive qualities in females, argument is that if the positive qualities in female were utilizes more frequently, then society would be better.
