History: after the salem witch trials, children being used as witnesses for the defense has had skepticism. Recall for events: children are accurately able to recall forensic related details and are capable of having accurate recall; problem is we don"t know when they are fabricating (making false claim) Recall memory following a long delay: false memory syndrome: when clients describe a false belief that they were sexually abused as a child. Can traumatic memories be forgotten: there are five criteria to determine the veracity of a recovered memory: 1. 1. age of the compliant during abuse - no memory prior to age two. Techniques used to recover the memory - hypnosis and guided imagery are open to suggestion. Similarity of reports across interviews - do they get more intense or stay sim- ilar. Motivation for recall - having other psychological distress and wanting an an- swer to the feelings.
