Drugs can become addictive- stopping use can increase anxiety and insomnia. Antidepressant drugs treats depression, anxiety disorders, ocd, and ptsd. Increase release of norepinephrine and serotonin elevates mood. Lithium can be a good mood stabilizer for highs and lows of bipolar disorder. Electroconvulsive therapy therapy for severely depressed patients, in which a brief electrical current is sent through the brain of an anesthetised patient. Electric shocks are delivered and helps reduce depression.
