There are many different perspectives that can help explain human behaviour. Sigmund freud is well known for his development of the psychoanalysis theory explains personality. Freud has developed the concept of, defence mechanisms. Defense mechanisms provide protection to an individual"s personality by helping the ego defend itself. Defence mechanisms provide a better understanding into the complexity of human behaviour because it explains several different ways an individual will unconsciously use, to defend their self from: anxiety, stress, and self-esteem. The ego is usually able to defend itself logically and rationally from the id"s demands. A lot of the time these demands are considered unacceptable, depending on the time and place (i. e. the demand for sensual pleasure).
