Feudalism, as defined by johnston, is the medieval socio economic system based on land owning nobility and peasant farm labour. Feudalism existed from fall of rome, to the 1500s. During the feudal era, the system of government was that of absolute monarchy. The european monarchs legitimized their rule by saying that they were ordained by god to rule. Many monarchs utilized natural law to further legitimize their rule. Natural law, by definition, is a medieval concept that principles of right apply to the human world in the way that laws of nature govern the physical world. The economic system of feudalism was an agrarian one. This meant that the economy ,depended on agriculture, in order to grow. Another method that drove the economy was trade.
