Document Summary

When examining the question of the meaning of life, we seek to determine if we can attain a sense of happiness and fulfillment. The desired outcomes that creates the moments of satisfaction differs for each person and can only be determined by the unique aspirations of each of us. Towards the end of the reading ayer states that purposes will differ for each person as we value different purposes unequally and no common objective exists to all. I concur with ayer, and believe we must take into consideration that the goals and aspirations for each of us will vary widely. We should not view the meaning of life as each person reaching for an identical objective. At any one moment, we will have numerous desired outcomes that we are contemplating. In addition, a sense of purpose is not only accomplished in reaching the desired outcome but is also received throughout the positive and negative experiences on the journey towards fulfillment.
