Document Summary

Chapter 7- social class & health inequalities , discusses a lot of what has come in the previous chapters. It summarizes how social class is directly correlated to the health of an individual. It explains that class based health equalities refers to an individual"s decisions regarding health constrained by structural factors. Those who are wealthier are in a better health state as they have more resources such as money, power, knowledge, prestige, and social connectedness which are all links in protecting one"s health. Something i found which was very significant was the importance of knowledge and having an education. Those who are educated and have the knowledge of certain things are just more likely to live a more optimal lifestyle. For example, having an education provides an individual with the knowledge of the effects of obesity. If you have this knowledge, you are more likely to make good diet choices and refrain from eating junk food.
