Lesson Introduction
"A picture is worth a thousand words."
~ Anonymous
Remember too that, in some cases, you do not want to
act like everyone else. If you are working with children or
adolescents, you will want to be the adult, not a peer.
I want you to be thinking about a few things when
working through this lesson:
What does “professional image” means to you?
How you might convey professional image?
Is it through dress (e.g., wearing ripped jeans, tiny
shorts, see-through shirts)? Is it through body
language and etiquette? What about
communication?
How do you want to present yourself?
How do you want others to perceive you?
How might you dress and act to convey this
perception to others?
Professional Image
“Etiquette and social skills are a must! Our employees
have to exhibit a certain level of professionalism and
etiquette, given that we constantly interact with our
clients.” ~ Kenitra Matheson
When we talk about "image" we are not just talking
about how you look or how you dress. There is a lot more
to "image" than just this. Image also has to do with how
we communicate, how we behave, how we carry
ourselves in specific contexts (e.g., at a restaurant, in a
meeting) and of course, how we dress.
