Building Positive and Healthy
Communities
The success of building positive and healthy
communities depends on bringing people together
through the establishment and maintenance of
long-term relationships. There are many benefits
and challenges associated with engaging in
community. These benefits and challenges can be
both individual and the community-oriented (e.g.,
government, stakeholders).
There are many players involved in a “community.”
For example, a community is comprised of
individual members such as students, parents,
grandparents, educators, health professionals etc.
Other stakeholders in a community may also
include agencies and organizations within the
community. Institutions are also part of the
community, including universities and the
government. All of these players benefit from a
sense of community, and must work together to
ensure a prosperous and strong society.
