Lack of remorse for consequences of self-regulation (fearlessness hypothesis, behaviour oppositional behaviour) Etiology: childhood experiences, biological, relationships; alternate b/w extremes of psychodynamic processes, social learning, idealization and devaluation abuse/neglect, minimal brain dysfunction. High comorbidity and overlap w other pds image or sense of self. Impulsivity in at least 2 potentially self- damaging areas. Affective (mood) instability; chronic feelings of emptiness, anger control problems, transient, paranoid ideation or dissociative symptoms. Prevalence 2-3% of general population not the centre of attention. Inappropriate sexually seductive or provocative behaviour + use physical appearance to draw attention. Prevalence is low, less than 1% of general (egocentric) population. Considerable overlap w borderline power, brilliance, beauty, ideal love. Believe they are special and unique + expect others to recognize them as such. Envious of others or believe others envious of them. Not listed in dsm-iv-tr, but there"s considerable research into psychopathy.
