Union: 1929- stock market crash (american crash which destroyed the worlds economy especially. Internet also becoming more public, increase use of computers end of communism as well as end of the cold war. Inherently european: why must a rational person believe that history has a purpose, kant and marx, class struggle continues in history- results in simplification of class positions, workers and owners. The postmodern condition: the nature of knowledge cannot survive unchanged within this context of general transformation. It can fit into the new channels and become operational only if learning is translated into quantities of new information. The producers and users of knowledge must now and will have to possess the means of translating into these languages whatever they want to invent or learn. Along with the hegemony of computers comes a certain logic, and therefore a certain set of prescriptions determining which statements are accepted as knowledge statements.
