Groups of objects belong to the same class of objects. Categorization is useful to us because it helps us organize the world, make inferences and act appropriately. Categories help us to simplify the world into manageable chunks. Reduces the complexity of the world for example there are 7 million colours in the world but we group them together. Classify objects according to specific rules or definitions. It is difficult to come up with a category for something like chairs because there are a huge variety of them 2 legs, 4 legs, 1 leg even with modern-looking ones. Another example is games they are defined as things that you play with other people for fun that includes sports, board games but what about the olympic games they are very different. The problem with this approach is that many categories are not categorized by a single definition fuzzy boundaries.
