Document Summary
People of different ages are tested at the same time. Get a bunch of each age and test them all and compare averages across each group. Is it because of difference in aging or is it a difference in way we grew up. Repeatedly test the same cohort as they age. Ex. test language abilities of 10-year olds, then test the same people 10, 20, 30 years later. Compare scores to see if they change as people age. Combines previous approaches test multiple cohorts-repeatedly over time. Test 3, 4 and 5 year yolds and test them 2, 4 years later. Advantage: most comprehensive (both cross-sectional and longitudinal effects) Disadvantages: time-consuming and costly (need a lot of people) Allow us to tests both cross-sectional and longitudinal effects. Periods of prenatal development: germinal 2 weeks (10-14 days) Embryonic 6 weeks (~42 days weeks 3-8) Umbilical cord: carries nutrients, oxygen to embryo and waste products away from embryo.
