Document Summary

"liberal world: the resilient order" - daniel deudney. While people believe liberalism is on its way out of the world, the author argues that this is not the case. Liberal order began after ww2 promoting liberal values. Even though liberalism has been threatened in the past, evidence shows it comes back stronger (i. e. great depression). Liberalism is quite adaptable in the sense that it can correct their own problems due to their openness. So it"s sustained power can be attributed to their design. While realism believes the most important actor is the state, but when liberals talk about thing of interdependence they see it terms of the individual (i. e. individual human rights, prosperity). Some believe the reason liberalism became strong was due to threats of communism, nazism etc, and now while people challenge liberals they might actually in turn strengthen it. Liberalism is not just a western thing, it is universal.
