Ideas in politics is similar to ideas presented in ethics. Master/slave: from birth some are marked to rule/others marked to be ruled. If you can perceive reason but not possess it = natural slaves: master"s job = rationally guide the slave to happiness (mutual benefits) In well-functioning cities, people have individual property but assist friends or loved ones in need: aristotle thinks education is the best way to unify citizens. Ideal state: reflects the actual limits/shortcoming of human existence compromised of people can relate to both rich and poor: democracy is better. Thus leading one of war of all: government is formed by the people for the people. Mill (liberty) to what extent can society legitimately exercise power over the individual (someone should be free unless there"s a reason that they shouldn"t (innocent until proven guilty) If we are really going to be free we need to allow all of humanity to be free.
