Document Summary

Renaissance and society: the family unit changed during the renaissance from the communal family of the. Middle ages to the smaller unit of a modern family. No longer is family lineage and involvement in the church the most important qualities in a person, but rather them being well rounded in all walks of life. Whether that is literarily, artistically, or politically: the renaissance enabled women to become more then objects to their husbands as well the renaissance provided limited opportunities for women to be educated, which was unheard of before. The much reduced peasant population after the plague found it easier to be granted freedom and tended to move into cities. As well city demographics changed with the upper wealthy class, the new professional middle class, and the urban poor.
