Document Summary

Earliest evidence of ppl in greece is 200k years ago small cave pop, in bands of 15-25 ppl; nomadic, and plants didn"t grow in cold winter, followed animals into the mountains in summer, into plains in winter. Only a few 1000 ppl in all of greece. 11-5kbce: agricultural revolution: agro is more work than hunter-gather, but has higher and more dependable returns. Farmers outnumber the nomads and take the unoccupied land. New viruses developed in the agro communities that would devastate the nomad bands. Nomads had to either join them, die, or move farther away. 5k-3kbce: plow: invention that forwarded farming; needed oxen, which needed food, which meant more land and more work - plow tech spreads and used all over euro including greece by 3kbc. H-g societies are more communal, littler person property to own, so little hierarchy. Those with no land must work for the rich ppl.
