Inappropriate technology: excessively contaminating, expensive, difficult to repair, deepens dependency, consumes fuel, capital intensive. Appropriate technology: user & environmentally friendly, non-damaging to indigenous or natural environments, low energy consumption, no patents, problem solving but not dependant, stimulates independence. Development must be redefined, demystified, & placed into an arena of moral debate because even the most well-intentioned development can have negative human costs. It is important to assess aid morally in order to promote authentic & meaningful development.
