Our daily life consists of representations which plato teaches us through his cave allegory. Our facebook profile is a representation of ourselves. We choose the best of ourselves to post. That means that reality is interpreted by electric signals which are only a representation of touching. We live in a constructed reality, reality is shocking. Consumer society capitalist systems reality is through media representations. Approaches to representation are through space and time: time creates a re-presentation done by words, pictures, statues. Like monuments represent an absence like the 9/11 building this is also representation made by space: space creates a re-presentation like by politicians for example. They represent the people; they make decisions for the people that they represent. Space can be created by surrogates and avatars too. Representations can be deceptive such as movies or the news. These are representations of events that happened in the past. Or even live representations through the news can be altered and edited.
