Most common mental illness in canada: anxiety. What words, images, movies, come to mind when you hear the word mental illness: deranged psycho, dangerous, homeless, poor, take away accountability and responsibility. What implications/consequences can this have: going to hinder their recovery, negative connation prevents people from getting the help they need, becomes their master status. 1 in 20 canadian will experience a form of mental illness at some point in their life: false, actually 1 in 5. A person who has one or both parents with a mental illness is more likely to develop a mental illness: true, can be hereditary, more than just genetics, can be physical trauma, environmental, and biological as well. Not just one answer to why someone has a mental illness.
