Don"t eat the marshmallow yet {ted talk} Lectures will not cover information directly in the book. Books and powerpoints will be on the exam. Focus will be on to learn day to day skills when it comes to communicating. Assignments (presenting a research study about what we learned in class) We will be putting together a learning portfolio. The knowledge you have accumulated over the semester. Two days will be put aside for workshops. Quizzes will be available for a 24hr period. You cannot not communicate ; we always communicate even through our body language. Human communication: making sense of the world and we try and share that sense with others by creating meaning by using verbal and non-verbal messages that we use. Impersonal communications: when communications is happening but is distant. This happens when we treat people as object or if we respond to their role rather as individuals.
