Returns luid that leaked from blood vessels back to blood. Consists of 3 parts: network of lymphaic vessels (lymphaics) Lymphaic vessels: up to 3l of leaked luid + plasma proteins returned to circulatory system. Fat-soluble substances are not absorbed by blood vessels, but lymphaic vessels. Lymphaic issues/organs: essenial in body defense/resistance to disease. Structures include spleen, thymus, tonsils, lymph nodes, other lymphoid issues. Filaments anchor the endothelial cells to surrounding structures. *lacteals: specialized lymph capillaries present in intesinal mucuosa. Absorb digested fat and deliver faty lymph to the blood. Lymph capillaries drain into increasingly larger vessels called collecing lymphaic vessels. Consist of collecing vessels, trunks and ducts. Have structures and tunics similar to veins, except: Collecing vessels in skin travel with supericial veins, but deep vessels travel with arteries. Lymph is delivered from trunks into one of two large lymphaic ducts. Right lymphaic duct drains right upper arm and right side of head and thorax.
