Preening is used to attract others (connecting/release oxytocin) Began to talk because the most important part of the environment had become other humans. There was a need for more efficient grooming and preening (release oxytocin)which was = communication. Well nourished babies die without social interaction. Neurons die if they can"t communicate with other neurons. 50,000 years ago the brain re-wired to better process complicated social information. Communicated ideas became so powerful we would die/at least suffer for them (god, race, country, sports teams) People did not have to be as smart to survive, Reason 2: multitasking is making us stupid. Rewarding brain for losing focus, attention easily hijacked by something new. Learning new information while multitasking causes the information to go to the wrong part of the brain.
