Document Summary

Hair follicles and sweat glands are found here. 2 layers: papillary layer loct, dermal papillae, epidermal ridges between epidermis and dermis (wavy, closest to the epidermis, reticular layer thicker irregular ct (dict) Contains lower parts of hair follicles and apocrine/eccrine glands. Attached to the hair follicle is smooth muscle called the arrector pili muscle which makes the hair stand up. Hair follicles are associated with a sebaceous gland that secretes oily sebum into the hair follicle. Not in palms and soles of feet. Keratinocytes produce keratin, arise from stratum basale. Dense layer of ct smooth muscle, some elastic. 2 layers of pericardium: fibrous pericardium, epicardium (serous pericardium) Capillaries only have one layer tunica intima. Lots of smooth muscle of some elastic. Tunica media is composed mostly of elastin intermingled with muscle. Needs a lot of elasticity to push blood through! Three types: continuous (most common, fenestrated, pores (kidney, endocrine glands, sinusoidal (liver, spleen, lymphnodes)
