Job analysis-systematic study of a job to discover its specifications, skill requirements, and so on, for wage-setting, recruitments, training, or job simplification purposes. Job- consists of a group of related activities and duties, help by a single employee or several persons: position- the collection of tasks and responsibilities performed by an individual employee. Step 1- familiarization with the organization and its jobs. Important to have an awareness of an organization"s objectives, strategies, structure, inputs, and desired outcomes. Job analysts may also study industry and government reports about the jobs. Step 2- determine uses of job analysis information: common uses are in the selection process, training, and designing performance appraisal and compensation systems. Jobs that are critical to the success of an organization; difficult to learn or perform. Step 4: determine sources of job data: establishing performance standards and benchmarks for quality.
