Document Summary

The jendrassik maneuver is when the patients reaction their fingers being locked together and they pull them apart as hard as they can while the tester, taps on their quadriceps tendon (nardone and schieppati 607-617). This allows the reflex to easily occur, through which the upper motor neurons are able to increase the overall excitability of the lower motor neuron pool of the lower extremities, resulting in knee extension (nardone and schieppati 607-617). Simple reflexes are known to be commonly found in stretch reflexes, where stimulation of the muscle spindle occurs following a muscle stretch. Maneuver are easily spotted through the knee jerk occurring upon stimulation on the quadriceps tendon. Through innervating the tendon, the knee is able to react and extend. No, they are not the same under all the contradictions due to different types of stimuli. It is common for the body to react at different times through different stimuli.
