Psych 101 exam 2 short answers: explain the following expressions as they as they apply to neurons and neuronal communicaion: lock and key ; all or none ; informaion lows downstream (3) The way that the brain is able to communicate to various parts of the body is through chemical signals via neurons. Iniially, a simulus is generated and this uptake of the signal is received by the dendrites of the neuron. If the simulus is large enough, an acion potenial is created. The acion potenial is a wave of electrical acivity that originates at the soma of the axon and rapidly travels down its length. This simulus ires at the same intensity and speed in every neuron. This is also known as the all or none principle. When the electrical simulus travels down the axon of the neuron, the informaion of the simulus is lowing downstream.
