Document Summary

Blood is connective tissue containing plasma (ground substance) and cells (formed elements) Rbcs, wbcs, platelets originate in red blood marrow. At birth, all marrow is red but in adult, it can only be found in trabeculae spongy bone, girdles, proximal epiphysis of humerus and femur. Pulmonary circuit: right side of heart to lungs via pulmonary arteries. Systemic circuit: left side of heart to body organs via aorta. Heart is angled left and 2/3 with apex on left and base on broad posterior surface. 1st is fibrous pericardium (strong dense connective tissue) 2nd and 3rd are serous pericardium (parietal is fused to fibrous pericardium and visceral is epicardium and is deepest layer) Visually tricuspid on left and mitral on right (opposite cuz anatomical) Right atrium receives o2 poor blood from super/inferior vena cavae, coronary sinus. Pectinate muscles in anterior separated by crista terminalis, smooth in posterior. Fossa ovalis is interatrial septum that used to be foramen ovale.
