In 1654, archbishop james ussher declared the earth was about 5650 years old, and was created in 4004 bc. Lightfoot, another biblical scholar later declared that the earth was created on october 26, 4004. Bc at 9 in the morning: argued to reconcile the geographical info at the time with biblical teachings: earth was thousands of years old and these catastrophic events happened years ago resulting in the recent world or something.
